Summary

Fibrous materials with special wetting properties, such as superhydrophobic/superoleophobic, superhydrophilic/superoleophilic, superhydrophobic/superoleophilic, and superhydrophilic/superoleophobic, exhibit numerous functions, e.g. bio-mimicking anti- sticking, contamination-resistant, self-cleaning. Their emerging applications include self-cleaning, oil-water separation, energy conversion, protection of electronic devices, controlling cell-substrate adhesion, and reducing fluid resistance for aquaculture and microfluidic devices, etc. Nanofibers having special wettability that are permeable to air and moisture are very useful for the development of protective suits, healthcare products, and filtration media. This presentation summarizes our recent academic results on functional fibrous materials with special wettability and their potential applications in air filtration, waterproof and breathable membranes, oil-water separation, dye adsorption, microwave adsorption, etc. It also introduces our industrialization achievements of electrospinning machines and nanofiber products.

Keynote Speaker

Prof. ZHOU Hua

Professor, College of Textiles & Clothing, Qingdao University

Prof. Hua Zhou is a Professor at Qingdao University, China. She received Ph.D. degree in Materials Engineering from Deakin University in Australia, 2014. She then worked as an Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2014-2016), and Research Fellow (2016-2019) at Institute for Frontier Materials, Deakin University. So far, she has over 70 high quality publications in Chemical Reviews, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Materials Horizons, Chemical Engineering Journal and etc. The total citation is over 6000 with Hindex is 42. In recent years, as chief investigator, she secured numerous important funding grants, including National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province, the "Textile Light" China National Textile Federation, etc. Her research interests are surface finishing technology of functional textile materials; fluoro-free super-liquid-repellent fabric coatings; large scale production and application of functional nanofiber materials.
