OIC Hackathons for Alipay Design
The ‘OIC’ (Open-Inno Challenge) is an open, rapid design contest initiated by the SD Plus of PolyU Design for envisioning preferred societal changes and improving people’s lives and well-being. Together with Alipay Design, the OIC called for SD community to collect observations, stories and creative ideas related to everyday challenges of ‘exchanging resources or transacting with others’. Such exchange or transaction experiences could be in forms of money, object, credit, skill or time. And also, in the aspects of small business, life-long learning, social relationship, alternative way of work/employment, expense management, etc. OIC is to be used as a joint explorative attempt to identify potential themes of design challenges for the upcoming SD Plus Alipay collaboration.

HKIA Training – ‘Deep Dive in Design Thinking’ Mini Courses (2024-25)
Deep Dive in Design Thinking Mini Courses is a 4-day programme, jointly-organised with Design Thinking in Action Limited (DTIA) and designed for Airport Authority Hong Kong, aiming to introduce fundamentals and helping non-designers to understand the significance of qualitative user research, design prototyping and testing (the key aspects of design thinking) in Digital Experience Design. The programme is divided into two parts as User Research (Part 1) and Digital Experience Design (Part 2). SD Plus and programme trainers have tailored the challenge topics such as ‘How can we identify the challenges and needs of group travelers, such as families with children or the elderly, large family groups, or culturally diverse tour groups, and develop appealing passenger experience / service / product / system design prototypes as future solutions for HKIA?’, helping Airport Authority in developing customer-centered and innovative solutions for their internal ecosystem.
