伍教授是一位注册物理治疗师, 现任康复治疗科学系教授。伍教授分别于澳洲悉尼大学及香港理工大学获得物理治疗应用科学硕士学位及哲学博士学位。她于加入香港理工大学前, 曾于本地及海外医疗机构, 从事物理治疗专科的临床工作。
伍教授一直积极参与康复治疗学的科研, 并致力发表科研文章, 主要探讨脑神经康复, 特别针对中风患者的康复治疗。她目前主要研究方向是探讨适切的科学测试, 用以评估脑神经疾病患者的活动功能, 并研究不同的治疗方法, 改善及促进中风康复治疗的成效。
伍教授是一位充满热诚和敬业的教师, 致力教育及指导物理治疗学系的本科学生、硕士及博士研究生。她分别于2009/2010年及2015/2016年两次获得康复治疗科学系的杰出教学奖, 更于2015/2016年获得医疗及社会科学院的杰出表现/教学奖。她曾被委任为物理治疗师管理委员会注册考试的评审员, 现时为物理治疗师注册委员会的成员。
