Biography
|
Tiangang obtained a B.Sc. in Physics (2008) and an M.Eng. in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2011) from the National University of Singapore, and a Ph.D. in Remote Sensing (2015) from Université de Toulouse, France. Prior to joining PolyU, he worked as a Research Scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in a joint appointment with the University of Maryland. Before that, he was a SMART Scholar Postdoctoral Fellow at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. He has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on numerous research projects, including NASA airborne field campaigns, mission concept studies, and competitive grants from Hong Kong’s Research Grants Council. Since 2011, he has led the development of the LiDAR, photogrammetry, and atmospheric modules of the 3D Discrete Anisotropic Radiative Transfer (DART) model. His current research focuses on quantitative remote sensing and physics-guided AI, including 3D radiative transfer modeling, LiDAR-based forest reconstruction, and differentiable modeling, to better characterize forest canopy structure and monitor urban vegetation. Tiangang invites self-motivated postgraduate students and postdocs to join the team of 3-D sensing, modeling, and data intelligence. Please contact Tiangang for more information. |
