RILS participated in the International USR Summit 2022: Education and Action for a Sustainable Future

PolyU and the University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) are co-organising the International USR Summit 2022 on the theme of “Education and Action for a Sustainable Future” from 16 to 18 November 2022. This biennial flagship event of the USRN, a global alliance comprising 20 universities sharing the same mission in pursuing university social responsibility, steers global discussions and advocates for the promotion of social responsibility in higher education.

PAIR will arrange a session featuring Chair Professors of PolyU and member of RILS will present an interdisciplinary research project that promote social responsibility and sustainability.

Title: S²FS² – Collaborative Research and UN SDGs

Abstract: This presentation is under the sub-theme “Collaborative Research to Address Global Challenges”. It will briefly summarise the current status of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals No.2 Zero Hunger, No.7 Affordable and Clean Energy and No.11 Sustainable Cities and Communities. It will emphasise the importance of collaborative research to address these global challenges. Sustainable and Smart Floating Structure Solution (S²FS²) will be used as an example to illustrate the collaboration among PAIR’s five research institutes at PolyU: Research Institute for Land and Space (RILS), Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Things (RIAIoT), Research Institute for Future Food (RiFood), Photonics Research Institute (PRI) and Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Research Institute for Smart Energy (RISE).
