Mr CHENG Tin Lap, Philip
Director of Eyecare Concepts, The Myopia Clinic Melbourne
A clinical optometrist with more than 20 years of experience since graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2003, I embarked on a new journey in 2017 in establishing my own independent practice Eyecare Concepts, with the aim of focusing on paediatric optometry, myopia management and specialty contact lenses. The practice gradually evolved to become The Myopia Clinic Melbourne, providing world-class, leading comprehensive myopia care to children, teenagers and young adults across Melbourne. We were one of the pioneers in incorporating optical biometry to measure axial length in an Australian optometric setting. Today, our destination clinic looks after over 3000 patients for myopia management, using a full suite of evidence-based interventions including orthokeratology, soft contact lenses, atropine, spectacle lens treatments and low-level red light therapy. As an internationally-recognised expert in this area, I have regularly been invited to present and to write on myopia management. I have also been an industry spokesperson for Myopia Awareness Week, participated as a key opinion leader for Essilor, Hoya and Zeiss, and a contributor for My Kids Vision and the Brien Holden Vision Institute. I am a committee board member of the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania (OSO). In 2020 I attained the prestigious Fellowship of the International Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control (FIAOMC), and the International Academy Certification in Myopia Management (IACMM) in 2023.
