Vision

To become a leading centre for research in mental health and promotion of mental well-being.

Mission

  • To set up a research hub integrating basic and translational animal models, neuroimaging and neurophysiological techniques to explore the neurobiological underpinnings of mental illnesses, neuro-cognitive mechanism and psychosocial functioning.
  • To conduct high-impact research by translating findings to real-life screening, preventive measures and interventions for populations locally, regionally and globally.
  • To advocate “no health without mental health” paradigm shift, educate people about promoting active mental health.
  • To integrate social and cultural factors in better understanding the impact of environmental and social determinants on help-seeking and social functioning in people with mental illnesses.
  • To partner actively with key stake-holders (researchers, scientists, engineers, clinicians, service providers, government and non-government organizations) to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to mental health issues, minimize risks of mental disorders, and shape and inform policy making in the long run.
