This project integrates optical fibre sensing technology with Edge-AI models to create a real-time, high-precision health monitoring system. Optical fibre sensors offer advantages such as high sensitivity, immunity to electromagnetic interference, and suitability for long-term, continuous monitoring. By embedding these sensors into wearables or ambient devices, the system can capture vital physiological signals, such as heart rate, respiratory pattern, and posture. Edge computing enables local data processing for optimised performance in reducing latency and enhancing privacy protection. The system is ideal for applications in elderly care, chronic disease management, and smart healthcare environment, providing its users and caregivers with timely alerts and actionable insights for better healthcare.
