This new family of biodegradable polymers have been evaluated for surgical repair of injured or diseased tissues, tissue regeneration like vascular grafts, drug-eluting stents, burn treatment, wound closure and drug control/release of both Chinese and western medicines for cancer therapy. The first generation of the biodegradable "Pseudo-Protein" biomaterials developed in the Chu's lab was approved for c01mnercial use as the coating for the Slender ® IDS drug-eluting stents in Europe in March 2016.
