Summary
The lecture explores key aspects of sustainable logistics, distribution, and e-mobility. It begins with an introduction to essential logistics terminology and the various types of logistics service providers. The session then presents an overview of socio-technical transition theory, which provides a framework for understanding how large-scale transformations occur within societal systems such as energy, transportation, agriculture, and other infrastructure sectors. This theory examines the interaction of technological, social, cultural, economic, and political factors that influence systemic change. It is often applied to analyze transitions toward sustainability, such as the shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy or from conventional to smart mobility systems. The lecture also examines real-world cases, including the adoption of electric bicycles in China and electric vehicles in Iceland. Finally, it discusses how e-mobility solutions, including electric bikes and vehicles, are integrated into transportation and energy systems, and their potential contributions to the socio-technical transition toward sustainable logistics.
