Delegated Ethical Approval Process for IGDS MSc Projects
The ethical approval process applies to all WMG students (including Hong Kong students) on taught MSc programmes who are planning to conduct research for the purposes of their dissertation. All students must submit an online WMG student ethics form on Qualtrics to their supervisor to delegate an approval or a waiver. Data MUST not be collected without first obtaining ethics approval for your research, or this being formally waived for your project. If students submit a project that includes data gathered from or about people without ethical approval this may be treated as academic misconduct and could lead to a mark of zero being awarded for your project. Details of the approval process and the link for online studnet ethics form can be found
here.
To support you to conduct ethical research, here are resources for support:

					- You must use university-supported tools to conduct your research. Software/tools supported by the University of Warwick can be found here.
- If you plan to conduct a survey, you can find guidance on creating a Qualtrics account using your Warwick IT log-in here.
- If you plan to conduct interviews, you can record these on Microsoft Teams. Note that you are not to video record or photograph human participants. Therefore, if using Microsoft Teams, ensure you and your participant(s) turn off your video when recording.
- You can access a Word-version of the student ethics form at the end of the WMG Student Ethics Training, available here.
