ASIA TOURISM FORUM – 9TH BIENNIAL CONFERENCE ON TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY IN ASIA

Following the success of previous Asia Tourism Forums held in Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea and France, the 9th Biennial Conference on the Tourism and Hospitality Industry in Asia was held in Hualien, Taiwan from 7 to 9 May 2010.
PROFESSIONAL HOSPITALITY TEACHER PROGRAMME OFFERED TO GUILIN INSTITUTE OF TOURISM

The SHTM has been involved in a United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) project to upgrade the Guilin Institute of Tourism (GLIT) to university level.

EXECUTIVE EDUCATION ESSENTIAL IN DISSEMINATING KNOWLEDGE

Vital to the SHTM's role as a centre of excellence is its ability to disseminate cutting-edge knowledge to the hospitality and tourism industry around the world.
IN MEMORY OF MR MANUEL WOO (1929 – 2010)

Mr Manuel Woo had been appointed the Honorary Fellow (Hotel Management) of the SHTM since 2007. Mr Woo had strong connections with the hospitality and tourism leaders and vast experience in hotel and tourism management. Mr Woo was the former Executive Director of Hong Kong Hotels Association. During the past years, Mr Woo had given unfailing support to both SHTM and PolyU. Mr Woo was a Council Member of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 1989-90 to 1993-94. He also served as a Member and Chairman of the Departmental Advisory Committee of SHTM from 1986 to 1994.
