SHTM ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (SHTMAA)

Around 10 Alumni Association members spent a day doing volunteer work at Ronald McDonald House in Sha Tin on 13 March 2010. Ronald McDonald House is a global non-profit organisation that provides a rest-place in lieu of hospital for seriously ill children and their family members. The main objective of the meaningful day was to prepare a delicious lunch onsite for more than 40 people, including ill children and their family members. The Association members also spent a fun-filled hour playing a game to cheer up the kids.

The Association invited a group of human resource professionals to discuss their work experiences with final year students on 23 April at the Millennium Training Restaurant. During the session, students obtained solid and up-to-date information about different areas in the hospitality and tourism industry so they could prepare for their careers.

A very well-attended Happy Hour Gathering took place in The Box at the IFC Mall in Central on 7 May. The gathering provided a good communication platform and offered opportunities for expanding industry networks. With its floor-to-ceiling glass walls presenting stunning views of Victoria Harbour, The Box attracted over 80 Association members to the event. The SHTMAA Scholarship 2010 and the quarterly Member Gets Member Programme Award were presented during the gathering.
