My own epilogue to SHTMAA Annual Dinner this year was a remarkable event. The theme of this year was Asian Countries and we had enjoyed the time with a series of fine Asian gourmets, not to mention The Best Dressed Award Competition I fully participate every year. For more dramatic effect, my selected costume was a traditional attire of Korean lady – Hanbok. For a united collection, a Korean hair-do and handmade Korean playing cards were key attributes too. It was a keenly competition as candidates were dressed well. The stage dancing and music had reached the climax of the event.

The themed Alumni dinner is an event I look forward to every year now. The whole process is so much fun. The anticipation for the announcement of the theme when it is about that time of the year; the big question mark you have when it is released… You start researching, very casually at first, more excitedly the more you discover all the options you have! A million ideas come to your mind; you go shopping for your costume and you come home with nothing you had planned, but a lot of other things instead… and the event is already here! Everybody looks curiously at everybody else and the night is never short of surprising costumes! However, there seems to be an unwritten rule that this is a women competition: let’s involve the men too! The Alumni dinner is an excuse to be creative and playful and every time, I learn something new about the world we live in. It provides a joyful atmosphere where to connect with other alumni. For someone shy - like me – costumes provide an excellent icebreaker for chatting with new people and get to know more alumni from our Alma Mater. I remember fondly these events and I look forward to more.

I would like to deliver my sincere appreciation to SHTMAA for organising the annual dinner 2017 and other activities which provide me, a fresh graduate, great platforms to connect with the alumni from different batches who are the leaders in the hospitality and tourism industry. I was able to connect with them and learn from their experience through casual conversation.

Both the program rundown and the food and beverage were excellent! I was amazed by the wine pairing and innovative ways of food presentation such as serving soups in teapots. I loved the singing performance and dancing time as well as I could see that people were really enjoying themselves.
