Summary

Calling all eco-conscious food lovers! Join our Low Carbon Foodies Contest via Instagram and share your eco-friendly meals for a chance to inspire others and win prizes, including up to HK$1,000 Hotel ICON voucher! The submission form will be open from 13 to 30 November, 2023.

 

Eligibility:

  • All existing PolyU staff and students are eligible to join
  • Followed our instagram @polyu.greencampus
  • Photo must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi
  • Only 1 photo can be submitted per participant
  • Submit a screenshot of the Instagram story featuring your photo. Tag our Instagram account @polyu.greencampus and include the hashtag #LowCarbonFoodies
  • Submit a short description explaining why the meal has a low carbon footprint (No more than 600 characters)

 

How to join:

Step 1: Capture a photo of a low carbon meal and enjoy it!
Step 2: Share a Instagram story tagged @polyu.greencampus and hashtagged #LowCarbonFoodies and screenshot
Step 3: Write a description of the meal, explaining why it has a low carbon footprint
Step 4: Submit the form with the original photo, a screenshot of IG story and the description.

Sample Description of low carbon Meal: 

This pumpkin salad features locally sourced seasonal pumpkins, romaine lettuce, and tomatoes, offering superior flavor, freshness, and texture while reducing transportation emissions. The ingredients are selected from an organic farm that utilizes natural pesticides and fertilizers, promoting a balanced ecosystem and minimizing the environmental impact associated with chemical synthesis processes. Additionally, the salad's plant-based composition contributes to its low carbon footprint. Opting to dine in reduces packaging waste, and finishing the meal helps prevent food waste.


How to win:

CFSO will select 10 winners based on the relevance of the topic (why the meal has a low carbon footprint) and the aesthetic quality of the photo.

Winners will be announced on or before 20 December 2023.

 

Prizes:

Prizes for the Top Three Winners:

First place: HK$1,000 Hotel ICON Dining Experience Voucher

Second place: HK$600 Hotel ICON Dining Experience Voucher

Third place: HK$300 Hotel ICON Dining Experience Voucher

Prizes for the Fourth to Tenth Winners: HK$50 Hotel ICON Dining Experience Voucher

Participation Prize for Qualified Submission: 3 Green Coins

Terms and condition:

Technical specifications for submitted photos

The photo(s) must be submitted as a high-resolution JPEG/PNG format.

The photo(s) must not contain violence, profanity, sex or direct attacks on individuals or organizations. Any entries deemed offensive will be immediately disqualified.

The photo(s) must be an original creation - no copyrighted images may be used.

The photo(s) must be untouched and without signature/ watermark.

The participant must certify and warrant that the submitted photo(s) does not violate the rights of a third party or any copyright. CFSO is not responsible for intellectual property violations that might have resulted through the submissions of photos.

Participants have the option to set their accounts as either public or private during the contest.

Repeated submissions are not allowed.

Judging and notification of selected participant

After the contest closes at 23:59 on 30 November 2023 (HKT), qualifying photos will be judged on adherence to the contest challenge through its relevance of the topic (low carbon dining), aesthetic composition and overall presentation. The jury’s decision is final. Any attempt by a participant to influence the result or subvert the photo competition will lead to immediate disqualification.

Winners will be announced on or before 20 December 2023, and will be notified by email.

If a winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made to do so, CFSO reserves the right to offer the prize to the next best entry.

 

Rights and ownership

By submitting their photos to CFSO, participants agree to grant CFSO free of charge the right to use the photo in any manner and media, including without limitation, the right to publish, adapt, distribute, copy, display or translate in printed or electronic media even if they are not the winning entries.

 

Prize redemption

It is the responsibility of the participants to provide correct, up-to-date details and contact in the application form. CFSO cannot be held responsible for winners failing to supply accurate information including GreenCoin ID which affects prize acceptance or delivery of their prize.

Prizes must be accepted as offered by the named winner. There is no cash or alternative prizes, in whole or part. The prizes are not transferable and cannot be resold.

CFSO reserves the right to verify winners and ask for proof of identity, and to withdraw prize entitlement where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these terms and conditions.

Winners must collect their prizes within the designated collection period at Z502, Block Z, as stated in the notification email. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the prize.

A voucher is valid for twelve months from the issuing date and is subject to the Terms and Conditions set forth by Hotel ICON.

 

Others

The judges’ decision on all matters relating to the competition is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

We reserve the right of final decision in case of any disputes.
