Green LNY fairs held

Taking into account that large quantities of waste are usually generated during festive occasions, the Environmental Campaign Committee, the Environmental Protection Department and ecobus jointly held the Green Lunar New Year Fair in February 2018. The fair called on stall operations and members of the public to cherish resources and go green for festive celebrations to reduce waste.

A recyclables collection station was set up to collect unsold goods and leftover materials from stall operators for on-site redistribution or donation to charity. Waste materials generated by stalls were properly sorted for recycling, re-use or donation. Shopping bag sharing stands were available for visitors to donate or pick up reusable shopping bags to reduce the use of disposable plastic bags. Green ambassadors were present to promote green messages and help visitors to properly dispose of recyclables in recycling bins.
