Professor Law Ga-lai
Professor Law Ga-lai joined the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology in 2012 and attained full professorship in 2022.
Her research focuses on lanthanide-based chemical biology, and the development of new luminescent materials as well as multimodal medical imaging probes. Her work has centred on lanthanide chemistry since her doctoral studies. She later gained further research experience with esteemed researchers including Prof. David Parker and Prof. Kenneth N. Raymond, establishing herself as a prominent researcher in the field and maintaining active collaborations with researchers around the globe.
Professor Law has published more than 100 articles in international SCI-indexed journals and is currently an editorial board member of Communications Chemistry (Springer Nature). She has been invited to write numerous book chapters and review articles on lanthanide chemistry, and has organised multiple international symposiums and workshops. Her contributions have been recognised with awards including the Durham International Senior Research Fellowship Award in 2018, and a Second-Class Award at the Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards from the Ministry of Education in 2020.
