FCE participates in PolyU Counsellor Fly-in Programme 2026 to strengthen global student recruitment

To attract top students worldwide, FCE participated in the Counsellor Fly-in Programme 2026 organised by PolyU's Global Engagement Office (GEO), which brought together 25 counsellors from 23 schools across 14 countries and regions to learn more about the University's academic offerings.

On 6 March 2026, FCE joined the panel discussion and mini fair held at Hotel ICON. During the panel discussion, Prof. Charles WONG, Associate Dean (Teaching and Global Engagement) of Faculty, addressed questions from counsellors regarding admission standards, learning experiences, professional accreditation, and career opportunities across various FCE programmes. At the mini fair, FCE representatives introduced the Faculty’s academic programmes and exchanged views with participating counsellors.

Warm wishes from Founding Dean as FCE embarks on new chapter with Department of Architecture

The Faculty recently received a warm and congratulatory message from Prof. Michael ANSON, Emeritus Professor and founding Dean of the then Faculty of Construction and Land Use (FCLU), the predecessor of FCE.

Prof. Anson extended his best wishes to the Faculty for a happy and prosperous Year of the Horse. He commended the Faculty’s continued success and expressed his appreciation for the Dean’s leadership in guiding the Faculty, nurturing talent, and safeguarding the well-being of staff.

In his message, Prof. Anson highlighted the forthcoming establishment of the Department of Architecture (ARCH) on 1 July 2026, describing it as a milestone that will render the Faculty’s structure a more integrated whole. He emphasised that this reflects a long-standing vision of FCE leaders, who have consistently recognised the strong relevance of architectural studies to the Faculty’s disciplines and its pivotal role in building a cohesive academic structure.

This vision was echoed in the Installation Exhibition held on 26 February 2026 on campus, where Year One students from the inaugural Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Architectural Studies programme presented their works for the 2025 Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Hong Kong): Techformance. The exhibition marked the culmination of the students’ solid theoretical foundation, innovative thinking, and practical skills.

About 60 participants joined the event, among them were representatives from the Architectural Services Department (ASD) of the Government of the HKSAR, The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), the Biennale, and key figures from industry and academia. Attendees joined a student-led tour of the exhibition, exploring designs that reflect the creativity and emerging talent of the Faculty’s young architectural talent. The students’ work would be included in ASD's 40th anniversary celebration.
