Introduction to Global Mediation
Non-credit-bearing
This subject introduces students to key concepts in Intercultural Communication and Global Mediation, and the role Hong Kong plays as a location with significant experience in the former and growing expertise in the latter. The subject offers an interactive approach to understanding Global Mediation that incorporates the latest technological developments, including generative AI, spread across the subject’s five face-to-face seminars and online learning platform.
The subject aims to provide high-quality, research-informed education in intercultural communication to help provide students with an understanding of how global mediation functions to benefit international and transnational companies and individuals.

Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to:

  • Understand the role of professional intercultural communication in resolving global disputes;
  • Identify issues in intercultural and global communication;
  • Understand the role of digital tools, including AI, in global mediation; and
  • Strengthen their core competencies and communication skills in intercultural contexts, problem solving, and critical thinking, and build up their expertise in areas that are central to the creation and transmission of knowledge in the digital future.
