Subject Description

This subject introduces students to the essentials of ArcGIS Online for web mapping. Students will learn to create a professional tourist map of local and non-local data, using interactive web apps. The subject covers data import, symbology, pop-up configuration, and app publishing, enabling students to design polished, user-friendly maps that can be easily shared online.

Introduce students to ArcGIS Online for creating interactive web maps and apps by using CSDI data.
Teach effective data import, symbolisation, and presentation techniques.
Guide students in designing and publishing a professional tourist map.

Upon completion of the subject, students will be able to:

Explore ArcGIS Online and navigate its interface.
Connect to and upload spatial data layers to ArcGIS Online.
Publish data from ArcGIS Pro to ArcGIS Online.
Apply appropriate symbology and configure pop-ups to enhance map readability and user engagement.
Build and configure tables and forms within the web map environment.
Create and customise an Instant App using ArcGIS Online.
Ensure the overall design and functionality of the map and app are professional, polished, and user-friendly.
Share their completed web map and dashboard by providing accessible URLs to instructors or the public
