I studied occupational therapy in India and have been providing clinical service to individuals with various types of neurodevelopmental disorder since 2008, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disability, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I hoped to incorporate evidence-based therapeutic interventions and cutting-edge technologies into my clinical practice, and I realised that the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University offered excellent platforms for enhancing my knowledge, skills and aptitude in those avenues. Therefore, I decided to pursue my doctoral research at this prestigious institution.
My research is focused on investigating the neural bases of temperamental effortful control (EC) and examining their response to transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in individuals with ASD. The outcomes of my research would provide a comprehensive understanding of the neural substrates underlying EC deficit and support the application of tDCS as an intervening medium to enhance cognitive functions of individuals with ASD.
