CHUNG Ho Ming

After working as a clinical occupational therapist at public hospitals for a long period, I “reinvested” myself in the new career as a clinical associate, in pursuit of a bigger career goal of learning, sharing and aspiring. My yearning for knowledge blooms in the right soil — The Hong Kong Polytechnic University provides the connection and the springboard for international academics, thus giving me a head-start in my PhD study.

There are so many unknowns to be explored in the area of clinical hypnosis that it is like an unpolished gem yet to reveal its glamour. Based on this assumption, my research will make use of the virtual reality (VR) technique to help breast cancer survivors achieve a sense of wellness and effective resilience. This is of utmost importance as psychological well-being is closely associated with improved immunity and reduced symptom burden. Long-term benefits of the technique would be assessed and measured in young cancer patients, and hopefully the improvement in patients’ quality of life would bring consolation to them and their families.
