Since 1949, Sino-US relations have been central to China’s international strategy, marked by decades of both cooperation and competition across politics, economics, and diplomacy. With China’s rise and the U.S. viewing it as a key rival, this complex relationship has profoundly shaped global affairs.
In this talk, Dr. Alex Chui will discuss major historical turning points, China’s strategies in response to U.S. policies, the impact of regional conflicts, and the implications for the future of Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The talk is in English and aligns with PolyU’s graduate attributes of developing critical thinkers and nurturing socially responsible leaders with a global outlook through the understanding of local, national and international issues; and should be of interest to staff and students alike.
