Academic Staff

Dr. LIAO Weihang joined the department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2025. Before that, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the department of Health Technology and Informatics at the same university from 2024.

Dr. LIAO obtained a Bachelor degree of Engineering and a Master degree of Engineering from Wuhan University, China, in 2015 and 2018, respectively. He obtained a second Master degree of Engineering from the National Institute of Informatics, Japan, in 2019, and the Doctor degree of Engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, in 2023. His primary research interests are medical image reconstruction and compression. He has publication records on the top conferences and journal in this region, including CVPR, MICCAI, and TPAMI. He was a JSPS-DC2 research fellow.
