The celebratory events of PolyU’s 80th anniversary continue throughout the year, bringing together influential higher education figures, renowned scholars, community leaders, industry partners, alumni and students from across the globe for this joyous occasion.

The University has organised a vibrant mix of lecture series and international conferences throughout the year, including the Times Higher Education (THE) Innovation and Impact Summit, Nobel Laureate Lecture Series, Global Leader Lecture Series, Distinguished Chinese Scholar Lectureship Scheme etc, inviting experts and renowned scholars from various fields to share their insights.

More than 200 delegates from 34 countries took part in the Summit cohosted by PolyU and THE on 31 May – 2 June. Themed “Powering Universities’ Economic and Social Impact through Innovative Research and Teaching”, it featured a series of inspiring keynote speeches and thoughtprovoking panel discussions on how universities breed new ideas to address the grand global challenges, led by influential higher education figures, innovators, entrepreneurs and policy-makers.

Another highlight was the PolyU Showcase, staged before the Summit, where delegates were taken on journeys to experience PolyU’s innovations and impactful research in four niche areas: space, aviation and railway; sustainable urban development; human-centered innovation; and hospitality.
