PolyU to advance textiles technology through endowed professorship

Informative workshop tailor-made for senior executives

Following the inauguration of the first batch of eight endowed professorships in May 2013, PolyU announced recently the set up of the ninth professorship - the “Vincent and Lily Woo Endowed Professorship in Textiles Technology”. The Endowed Professor-designate is Prof. Tao Xiao-ming, Chair Professor of Textile Technology of the PolyU Institute of Textiles and Clothing (ITC).

The professorship was endowed by the “Vincent and Lily Woo Trust (2007)” and the donation was presented to Prof. Timothy W. Tong, PolyU President, by founders of the Trust Mr Alex Woo and Ms Alice Woo, son and daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Vincent and Lily Woo, at a lunch reception held recently. On the occasion, Prof. Tong expressed his gratitude to the Woo family for their staunch support for PolyU. In 2009, in recognition of their contributions to the development of ITC over the years, PolyU named a conference room on campus as “Mr and Mrs Vincent V.C. Woo Conference Room”. In 2012, the Woo family made further donation to PolyU for the establishment of the “Vincent and Lily Woo Trust Scholarships”.  The new endowed professorship, which is the second professorship set up by PolyU at ITC, has given ITC a strong impetus to make further contributions to the development of the local fashion and textiles industry and education.
