"PolyU Has a Heart" Community Service Learning Programme wins MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship

“PolyU Has a Heart” Community Service Learning Programme has recently been awarded the third prize of 2012 MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship. The programme is coordinated by PolyU’s Student Affairs Office, involving over 15 academic departments and 20 NGOs working with underserved populations in Sham Shui Po. Launched in 2009, the programme aims to provide integrated services to promote the physical and psychological wellbeing of disadvantaged people in the community, including elderly, new arrivals, single parent families, and disabled people. Through participating in this meaningful programme, students have developd a positive attitude in life and learned to be  responsible citizens.

The MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship has been launched since 2009 by the Talloires Network and the MacJannet Foundation to recognize exceptional student civic engagement initiatives based in Talloires Network member universities around the world.  The Talloires Network is an international association of institutions committed to strengthening the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education.
