Outstanding Student Award 2024/25 of FENG & COMP - LIU Chenxi

LIU Chenxi, a Year 4 student pursuing a BSc in Computing, has been honored with the Outstanding Student Award for the academic year 2024/25 from the Faculty of Engineering (FENG) and the Department of Computing (COMP). This prestigious accolade underscores Chenxi's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and personal growth during her tenure at PolyU.

The Presentation Ceremony on 3 April 2025 at the Hotel ICON, recognised 29 outstanding students at departmental and faculty levels, with PolyU's President, Prof. Jin-Guang TENG, officiating the event.

Her Journey at PolyU

Chenxi's journey at PolyU has been nothing short of transformative and enriching. From the very first year, she embraced the challenges of her computer science and mathematics studies with enthusiasm. The curriculum helped her develop essential skills like critical thinking and problem-solving, turning late-night study sessions into valuable lessons in perseverance and resilience.

Beyond the classroom, PolyU provided her with incredible opportunities, including internships, research projects, and exchange programs at prestigious institutions like the University of Liverpool, University of Waterloo, and Cambridge University. These experiences not only broadened her academic horizons but also allowed her to connect with peers from diverse backgrounds, fostering a spirit of collaboration and creativity.

Chenxi cherishes the mentorship she received along the way, emphasising that every challenge is an opportunity for growth. She encourages her fellow students to dive into all that PolyU has to offer, reminding them that each experience—whether a success or a setback—will help shape their unique journey.

Her Aspiration

Looking ahead, Chenxi aspires to pursue a career as a researcher in theoretical computer science, focusing on algorithm design, complexity, graph theory, and combinatorial optimization. She views success as the ability to make significant contributions to her field, pushing the boundaries of knowledge. Grateful for the solid foundation provided by PolyU, she plans to enhance her expertise through continuous learning, collaboration with experts, and exploration of innovative ideas.
