Visit - Digital Policy Office
On 13 January 2025, the delegation from the Digital Policy Office (DPO) of the HKSAR Government visited COMP. The group was led by Ir Tony WONG, Commissioner for Digital Policy and a distinguished alumnus of COMP.
Prof. Jiannong CAO, Dean of the Graduate School and Chair Professor of Distributed and Mobile Computing, welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of PolyU's recent developments. Ir WONG then represented DPO to introduce the role of DPO and its latest initiatives. Following this, Prof. Allen AU, Professor and Associate Head (Research and Development) and Prof. Kay Chen TAN, Chair Professor of Computational Intelligence and Head of Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI), along with other academic and research staff members presented background information about COMP and DSAI departments as well as the ongoing research works.
After the meeting, the DPO delegation toured the Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Things (RIAIoT) and the Research Centre for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RC-DSAI), where cutting-edge research projects were showcased, highlighting solutions that could address public interests, such as fake wine detection, pipe inspection, immersive education and AI-powered robotic services.
This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the partnership between academia and government, paving the way for future initiatives that harness technology for the betterment of society.
