Research Assistant ProfessorDr. H. C. HO obtained his first degree in Civil and Structural Engineering in 2000, and his doctoral degree in Structural Engineering in 2005, both at the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr. Ho’s research has focused on high performance steel materials, structural fire engineering, computational fluid dynamics, and non-linear structural analysis on building structures. His specialties include steel structures, cold-formed steel structures, bamboo structures, structural engineering, and fire-resistant design. His research interests include structural instability, experimental investigations, numerical modelling, constitutive models of building materials, steel and composite structures, thin-walled structures, structural fire engineering, and artificial intelligence in structural engineering.
Research Assistant ProfessorIr Dr. Yancheng CAI obtained his doctoral degree in structural engineering from The University of Hong Kong in 2013. He then worked in the engineering industry and HKU for the practice and research in structural engineering. Dr. Cai’s research mainly focused on behaviour and design of cold-formed stainless steel structures at room and elevated temperatures, tubular joints of stainless steel and high strength steel, and non-linear structural analysis. His specialties include the combination of experimental design, numerical modelling and theoretical analysis in investigation, stability and connection details of cold-formed stainless steel and high strength structures, fire resistance of metal structures, steel modular systems. He is a Chartered Engineer, and a member of the ICE, HKIE and ASCE. Dr. Cai received the Grand Prize of the HKIE Innovation Awards for Young Members in 2018 and, the “Commendation Merit --- R&D Award by Joint Structural Division of Structural Division of HKIE and the IStructE in 2017, etc.
