Programme Structure (admitted from 2025-2026)

The curriculum of BACHC-SY consists of two parts:

1. General University Requirements (GUR): 9 credits

2. Major Requirements: 51 + 3 credits

Cluster-Area Requirements (CAR) • 3 credits from CAR(M) Chinese History and Culture. • A specially-designed CAR (A) – English language subject with embedded English Reading and Writing Requirements. • Students should not take more than 3 credits (normally 1 subject) from the same cluster area. • Students need to fulfil the English and Chinese Reading and Writing Requirements.	6

Language and Communication Requirements (LCR) English LCR replacement subject: ENGL2000 English for Effective Communication OR ENGL2001 English for Professional Communication Chinese LCR replacement subject: CBS2901 Chinese for Language Professionals Note 1: Students not meeting the equivalent standard of the Undergraduate Degree LCR (based on their previous studies in Associate Degree/Higher Diploma programmes and their academic performance) will be required to take degree LCR subjects on top of their normal curriculum requirement. 2. Major Requirements: 51 + 3 credits

Work-Integrated Education (WIE) 3 credits: CHC313 Work-Integrated Education

The 3 credits of WIE are considered as training credits and are not taken into consideration in the calculation of the student’s GPA.

Capstone Project 3 credits: CHC402 Capstone Project in Chinese History and Culture

The Capstone Project can take various forms such as a thesis, a poster presentation, an exhibition and a photo-essay, but must include a significant writing component. (A thesis, for example, should not be shorter than 4500 Chinese words or 3300 English words.) Students are encouraged to declare the topic of the Capstone Project in the first semester of final year study, and complete the Project under the supervision of an advisor in the last semester of study.
