張維玲教授新書發佈： 《揭開道學面紗：南宋孝宗朝的政治景觀》

張維玲教授新書 《揭開道學面紗：南宋孝宗朝的政治景觀》近期由上海古籍出版社出版。 二十多年來，以朱熹為核心的道學派士大夫，成為宋孝宗朝政治史的研究框架。本書藉由拆解此框架，即將朱熹去中心化，重新解讀朱熹曾活躍的時代。在揭開道學的面紗後，本書把握四個維度，以重建朱熹時代的政治景觀。四個維度分別以側近官員（君主寵臣）曾覿，以及外朝宰執陳俊卿、虞允文、周必大為核心，探討他們各自所屬的恩庇權力網絡，如何在以「恢復中原」為目標的政治賽局中，提出迥異的政治路線，又分別在哪個階段為孝宗所採用，從而牽動權力結構的消長。這種權力地位的高低位移，不僅肇因於孝宗在恢復目標下所做的理性抉擇，更源於孝宗與各核心人物之間或依賴、或親近、或猜忌、或信任的多種情感關係。總之，本書從人際網絡、情感張力、偶然性事件，與政治決策的交互作用切入，揭示孝宗朝恢復路線的階段性變動，及在此變動背後的權力重組。以此，本書不僅為孝宗朝的政治史提供新的解讀，也希望建立具方法論遷移潛力的研究模型。 本研究獲得香港特別行政區政府研究資助局一般研究基金（GRF）資助。研究計畫：Neo-Confucianism and Political Culture in the Mid-Southern Song Dynasty（Ref No. 15612723） 張維玲是香港理工大學中國歷史及文化學系助理教授。臺灣大學歷史學博士，曾任哈佛大學東亞系、費正清中心訪問學者。專長領域是宋代政治文化史、晚唐至明初地方社會史。代表作《從天書時代到古文運動：北宋前期的政治過程》。另有論文發表于《新史學》、《漢學研究》、《中國文化研究所學報》、Journal of Song Yuan Studies、T'oung Pao、Journal of Chinese History。在完成《揭開道學面紗》後，她將繼續從事地方社會史的研究。

韓琦教授主編《知宋·宋代之科技》出版

由香港理工大學韓琦教授主編的《知宋·宋代之科技》一書近期由浙江人民出版社出版。該書系統梳理了宋代科技發展的整體面貌及其與社會的深層互動。該書精選18篇研究精品，彙聚錢寶琮、張秀民、杜石然等科學史大家，從天文曆算到醫學農學，從雕版印刷到冶金採礦，全景呈現一個“前所未有”的科技高峰時代。 韓琦，香港理工大學中國歷史及文化學系教授，主要研究領域為明清中西文化交流史、明清科學史、天主教史、中國印刷史和民國地質學史。著有《中國科學技術的西傳及其影響》《通天之學：耶穌會士和天文學在中國的傳播》等，合著合編有《中國印刷史》《中國活字印刷史》《〈熙朝崇正集〉〈熙朝定案〉（外三種）》《歐洲所藏雍正乾隆朝天主教文獻彙編》，發表學術論文百餘篇。

The 2026 Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award for the Department of Chinese History and Culture (CHC) is now open for nomination

The Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award aims to give recognition to distinguished graduates of PolyU for great distinction in their chosen fields, active support to their alma mater, as well as impactful contributions to the wider community. The nominated candidate must be a graduate who has successfully completed a full-time or part-time programme offered by CHC. The proposer can be a PolyU graduate, Honorary Graduate, University Fellow, PolyU staff, PolyU Council and Court member, and Advisory Committee member.   Three specific areas of achievement will be recognized, including: - Professional Achievement - Entrepreneurial Achievement - Scholarly Achievement   The Outstanding Young Alumni Award will be presented to alumni aged at/under 40.   Awards will be conducted at three levels: Department level, Faculty level, and University level.   You are cordially invited to submit nominations by returning the nomination form to Ms. June HU at nanhu@polyu.edu.hk by 8 May 2026.   We look forward to receiving your nomination.

由學系和香港孔子學院、中國戲曲學院聯合舉辦的中國戲曲文化沉浸式賞析與互動體驗工作坊「戲韻PolyU」於上週四圓滿結束！ 本次活動共吸引了300餘名理大師生及校外人士報名。 在中國戲曲學院導師的生動講解後，觀眾欣賞了京劇、崑曲、山西晉劇及河南曲劇的經典劇目片段。 抒情表意，化心為技，以技驚人，國戲師生的精彩演出讓在場的觀眾目不暇接！互動體驗環節觀眾爭先登臺，在國戲老師的現場教學下，學習戲曲水袖，扇子及馬鞭的表演技巧。

PolyU Outstanding Student Award and Presidential Student Leadership Award 2025/26

This year, two students from the Department of Chinese History and Culture have received two prestigious awards: fourth-year student Wang Yidan was awarded the PolyU ‘Outstanding Student Award’, whilst a year-3 BACHC student, Xu Chang, has been awarded the Presidential Student Leadership Award of the Faculty of Humanities 2025/26. PolyU organises the Outstanding Student Award Scheme annually to award full-time final-year students who excel in both academic and non-academic pursuits during their studies. Apart from having outstanding academic merits, the awardees should also be well-rounded with aspects such as strong leadership abilities, good personal qualities and conduct, active involvement in extra-curricular activities and community services, and global outlook. The Presidential Student Leadership Award, launched by the University in 2022/23, aims to acknowledge the leadership skills and contributions of students to their local and global communities.

“Ancient China-Foreign Relation Interactive Map Project: Animal and People on the Silk Road Database”

Funded by the Quality Education Fund of the Hong Kong Education Bureau and carried out by Dr LIN Zhihui and her team. The project aims to develop the first online interactive map of China-foreign exchanges along the Silk Road for secondary school education. Using animals as a focus, the project integrates the four aspects of time, space, images and history, and visualizes these aspects to tell the story of the Silk Road in ancient times, making history more interesting and accessible. Professor Hang Xing published an article entitled “Weave interdisciplinarity into the identity of your humanities department” on the Times Higher Education

Prof Bony Schachter’s new article, “From Regal Way to Political Quietism: Zhu Quan, Disciplinary Communities, and Ming–Qing Daoism”

His new article, From Regal Way to Political Quietism: Zhu Quan, Disciplinary Communities, and Ming–Qing Daoism, is published in Late Imperial China Volume 46, Number 2, December 2025. This article examines the shifting status of Daoism in late imperial China through evolving biographical portrayals of the Ming prince Zhu Quan. It identifies a conflict between "textualist" scholars, who redefined Daoism as a set of ancient philosophical texts, and a "ritualist" community that upheld its ritual and political potency. The analysis unfolds in three parts: analyzing Zhu Quan's own presentation of himself as a divine bureaucrat wielding Daoist-derived regal authority; exploring how late Ming scholars reappraised his life to redefine Daoism as political quietism; and finally, showing Zhu Quan's image as presented in official Qing historiography is the byproduct of this new theoretical synthesis, which did not envision Daoism as having a significant role in Qing politics or the Chinese sacrificial field. This article reveals that knowledge production was a contested field where competing "Daoisms" were weaponized in a fundamental struggle over the nature of kingship and political authority. 何宇軒博士新編《回眸‧新探‧展望：明清才女文化與性別研究》

香港理工大學成功舉辦第三屆理大全港中國歷史論文比賽頒獎典禮

香港，2025年11月22日——香港理工大學中國歷史及文化學系於今日隆重舉行第三屆 「理大全港中國歷史論文比賽」 頒獎典禮，本屆比賽以「海上看歷史、多元的中國和世界」為主題，首次增設「非本地組」，吸引了來自中國內地、越南、馬來西亞、印尼等多地區參賽團隊，較前兩屆規模顯著擴大。 比賽規模與主題創新 本屆比賽參與規模再創新高，本港團隊數量從上屆的103個增至147個，另有29個非本地團隊，參賽人數達近800人。 自2023年首屆舉辦以來，比賽已從最初30多所學校近200位同學參賽，發展為涵蓋全港及海外的學術交流平臺。 比賽主題「海上看歷史、多元的中國和世界」引導學生從海洋視角探索中國與世界歷史的互動關係，參賽作品展現出選題多元化、研究視角國際化的特點。 獲獎論文不僅考據嚴謹、註釋清晰，更能從不同地域和國家歷史脈絡探討多元文化交流，體現了「論從史出、史料互證」的學術精神。 嘉賓致辭：深化歷史教育與文化傳承 香港理工大學中國歷史及文化學系系主任韓孝榮教授在致辭中表示2023年學系開設四年制本科課程，推動中國歷史教育發展。他期望比賽能成為連接院校師生的紐帶，吸引更多優秀學生報讀相關專業。 教育局代表李建寰先生在致辭中介紹了教育局推動歷史教育的舉措：今年正值中國人民抗日戰爭暨世界反法西斯戰爭勝利80周年之際，舉辦了一系列豐富有趣的歷史教育活動，以及將於2027-2028學年實施的高中中國歷史科和歷史科課程優化計劃。 麥勁生教授作為連續三屆參與典禮的嘉賓，分享了歷年論文主題的演變：從第一年關注「物質文明」，到去年「歷史上的中國與世界」，再到今年「海上看歷史，多元的中國與世界」。 他鼓勵學生在歷史研究中培養紮實的學術技藝與辨別能力，強調「在資訊爆炸和人工智慧時代，堅持辨別史料真偽、記載可信性和論述說服力」的重要性。 吳志華博士從文化傳播角度提出建議：應提升中國文化內容品質，善用AI等數據技術，進行跨學科研究，關注多元文化對話。 香港地方誌中心副總編輯劉蜀永教授表示，雖因香港修志工程繁忙，但因活動意義重大而特地出席。他肯定了比賽從最初僅限香港擴展至中國內地及東南亞地區的成長歷程，期待比賽能持續舉辦，讓更多青年通過了解中國歷史，更加了解和熱愛國家，為香港、國家發展和中華民族偉大復興貢獻力量。  本港冠軍隊伍採訪 冠軍隊伍宣道中學同學表示：「透過訪問羅老，我們了解到港九大隊不僅在本地抗日，更與盟軍合作，在國際反法西斯戰爭中發揮重要作用。這些歷史往往被忽略，我們希望透過論文，讓更多人認識本地抗戰戰士的貢獻，毋忘前人的犧牲與付出。」 指導老師廖智樑指出：「我校中史科組推動探究式學習，鼓勵同學親自尋訪、記錄、整理這些被時光掩埋的歷史聲音。透過這個過程，同學不僅能重構過去的樣貌，更能內化『論從史出』的史學方法——學會提問、蒐證、辨析，最終形成有根據、有見地的歷史論述。這是歷史學習的真諦。」 活動意義與未來展望 本屆頒獎典禮不僅是對優秀歷史研究的表彰，更是推動歷史教育與文化傳承的重要平臺。在致辭環節，與會嘉賓一致強調，歷史教育應培養學生的多元視野、獨立思辨能力與家國情懷。 香港理工大學表示，將延續舉辦這一賽事，進一步擴大參與範圍，深化與內地及海外中學的合作，持續推動中國歷史文化教育的發展，培養兼具國際視野與家國情懷的未來人才。 當日下午，港理工中國歷史及文化學系亦舉辦了「人工智慧與數碼科技：香港中國歷史教育的機遇與挑戰」論壇。 論壇聚集本港科技業界專家、中學教師及大學學者共聚一堂，分享經驗、交流見解，探討人工智慧與數碼工具於歷史教與學中的實踐與前景。
