Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Chinese History and Culture (BACHC)

Programme Structure (admitted from 2025-2026)
The curriculum of BACHC consists of three parts:
- General University Requirements (GUR): 27 credits
- Major Requirements: 78 + 3 credits
- Free Electives Requirements: 12 credits
- General University Requirements (GUR): 27 credits

And of which must fulfil the following additional requirements:
• English Reading and Writing (ER/EW) Requirements
• Chinese Reading and Writing (CR/CW) Requirements
3 credits from CAR M Chinese History and Culture by double fulfilment - students completing CHC134 Science and Civilisation in Pre-modern China will meet the Cluster Area Requirements (CAR M) and a Major requirement. Thus, students are NOT required to take another CAR M subject to fulfil the CAR M requirement.

Work-Integrated Education (WIE) 3 credits: CHC313 Work-Integrated Education
The 3 credits of WIE are considered as training credits and are not taken into consideration in the calculation of the student’s GPA.
Capstone Project 3 credits: CHC402 Capstone Project in Chinese History and Culture
The Capstone Project can take various forms such as a thesis, a poster presentation, an exhibition and a photo-essay, but must include a significant writing component. (A thesis, for example, should not be shorter than 4500 Chinese words or 3300 English words.) Students are encouraged to declare the topic of the Capstone Project in the first semester of final year study, and complete the Project under the supervision of an advisor in the last semester of study.
