The Seventh International Workshop on Seawater Sea-sand Concrete (SSC) Structures Reinforced with FRP Composites Successfully Held in Shenzhen

The Seventh international Workshop on Seawater Sea-sand Concrete (SSC) Structures Reinforced with FRP Composites (7th FRP-SSC Workshop) was successfully held in Shenzhen on 23-25 February 2024. This workshop was co-organized by the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering and the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), as well as the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Professor Teng Jin-guang, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, served as the Advisory Chair of the Organizing Committee. Associate Professor Lin Guan and Professor Chen Jianfei from SUSTech, together with Professor Yu Tao from PolyU, served as Co-Chairs. The workshop featured eight plenary keynote speeches, five academic sessions and one industrial session, presenting the latest research findings and technological advances in FRP-reinforced seawater sea-sand concrete structures and related fields. Distinguished scholars from multiple countries and regions including China, the United States, Australia, Italy, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates delivered insightful academic reports. Among them were Professor Ou Jin-ping (Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering), Professor Yue Qing-rui (Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering), Professor Zhao Xiao-lin (Member of the Australian Academy of Engineering), Professor Shi Cai-jun (Member of the Ukrainian Academy of Engineering), and Professor Tamer El Maaddawy from United Arab Emirates University. The workshop has built a solid platform for academics and industry professionals to share cutting-edge research and discuss technological trends.
