Due to the increasing demand for allied health professionals, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is constructing a new Allied Health Education Hub at Slope. This hub will provide state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and the School of Optometry at PolyU, enabling them to advance their research and development efforts, cultivating world-class talent for the benefit of Hong Kong, the Nation, and the world.

The 11-story building will span over 10,000 square metre and feature a range of modern teaching and training facilities, such as research laboratories, study areas, communal space and lecture theatres. In addition, a clinic will be established to offer a platform for students to apply their skills while providing treatment to patients.

Design Concept – where form meets function, and nature meets architecture

Dissected by two wind corridors from the north-south and east-west directions, the campus building boasts an impressive profile that creates open stepped terraces, offering green opportunity at each level. The campus building’s design is intertwined with nature, enhancing the experience of the green environment throughout the structure. With a sunken plaza, amphitheatre, landscape area and green lawn, it will be a place where the PolyU community can gather, interact and build a sense of community.

A range of sustainable features are introduced to achieve optimal energy efficiency:

  • Insulated Glass Unit (IGU) with sun shading device: reducing demands on air-conditioning.
  • Green roof system: providing a pleasant building outlook while reducing the heat island effect.
  • Fenestration ratio control: minimising excessive heat gain during the summer and enhance acoustic property to create an optimal indoor environment in the campus area.

The Campus is expected to be completed by 2027.
