Biography

Prof. Fan received her Ph.D. degree from the Department of Construction Management at Tsinghua University and her bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from Southeast University. Prior to joining PolyU, she was a research fellow at the National University of Singapore and a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on the economics of the built environment, sustainable redevelopment, and digital infrastructure transformation. She employs empirical investigations and spatial equilibrium to inform cost-effective infrastructure delivery and built-environment policy optimization. Her current work addresses critical challenges in these domains, encompassing local energy infrastructures, urban renewal towards net-zero cities, microclimate risks and community resilience, public housing systems and city welfare, and the integration of artificial intelligence and digital platforms in fostering inclusive, resilient built environments.
