We offer a wide range of scholarships for undergraduate students

In order to honour the academic and non-academic excellence of our prospective undergraduate students, a wide range of scholarships are provided to both local and non-local students.  To broaden students' professional knowledge and widen their personal horizons, special subsidies are also provided for overseas exchange.

PolyU embraces students with special talents in Sports, Arts and Culture, Leadership and Community Services, and STEM through Special Talents Admission and Recognition Scheme (STARS).  The scheme
serves as an alternative admission route for students whose exceptional achievements cannot be fully reflected in their academic studies. More about STARS.

How can I apply for an Entry Scholarship?

Application is not required.  The awarded students will be informed separately

Who is eligible?

All outstanding local admittees^ to our full-time undergraduate programmes will be considered for academic or non-academic scholarships.  Click here for further information.

Notes: 
^ (1) Local admittees are students who do not require a student visa to study in Hong Kong. (2) A student can concurrently hold more than one scholarship administered by the University in an academic year if the total value of scholarships received by him/her does not exceed his/her annual tuition fee payable plus an allowance of HK$50,000 unless otherwise stipulated. (3) PolyU reserves the right to change the terms or withdraw the scholarships. In case of any dispute/disagreement, the University’s decision is final.

    2024/25 Academic Scholarships for Students with HKDSE Qualification (subject to approval)

    An entry scholarship is guaranteed if you are a current year Secondary Six local^ student taking the HKDSE at your first attempt, meet the University's General Entrance Requirements for admission to full-time Bachelor's Degree programmes, and fulfil any one of the following requirements:

    • HK$500,000 for whole undergraduate study (subject to meeting the required conditions for scholarship renewal) plus

    • An Undergraduate Research and Innovation Scheme (URIS) scholarship of up to HK$50,000
    Tier 1  Level 5** in 5 subjects
    • Renewable full-tuition scholarship with a renewable allowance of HK$50,000 (subject to meeting the required conditions for scholarship renewal) plus
    • Exchange scholarships including a subsidy to OxBridge of up to HK$80,000 plus

    #  Students meeting more than one of the HKDSE requirements listed will be awarded the better tier of scholarship.

    An entry scholarship is guaranteed if you are a current local^ school leaver taking IB examination at your first attempt, meet the University’s General Entrance Requirements, and fulfil any one of the following results:

    An entry scholarship is guaranteed if you are a current local^ school leaver taking GCE A-Level / International Advanced Levels (IAL) examinations at your first attempt, meet the University’s General Entrance Requirements, and fulfil any one of the following results:

    The grant of 2024/25 Entry Scholarships will be announced simultaneously in the online Notice of Offer. The scholarships usually cover the normal duration of your scheme/programme and are subject to meeting the required conditions for scholarship renewal. As scholarships are allocated on rolling and competitive basis, current non-local students are strongly encouraged to submit your application before the Early Consideration Round deadline.

    To further strengthen and enhance our diverse undergraduate student body, the Cultural Ambassador Scholarship is set up for selected non-local students. The scholarship of up to HK$40,000 per year is awarded to selected students. Recipients are required to work together with the Global Engagement Office, reaching out further to international prospective students and parents to promote our undergraduate programmes and schemes.

    理大为内地应届高考生设立2024/25入学奖学金。申请人如在应届高考成绩优异,或在个别课程的申请人中成绩优秀,并符合本校的要求,可获得理大、个别学系、政府或捐赠人士所提供的入学奖学金,金额最高为相等于攻读本科课程正常修业期内的学费,每年65,000港元的生活津贴以及高达50,000港元的「本科生科研计划」奖学金。

    此外,为鼓励同学全面发展,设立了非学术奖学金以嘉许在非学术方面有优秀表现的申请人。申请人如在其他非学术领域,如体育、文化艺术、STEM、社会服务或领导才能等不同范畴获卓越表现,而应届高考成绩良好,理大会考虑提供非学术奖学金。 奖学金人选由校方从申请人中挑选,学生毋须另行申请。大学入学奖学金的年期视乎入读专业的年期而定(一般为期四年;部份为五年),学生每年的成绩达到指定的平均积点可继续领取奖学金。

    另外,个别学院或学系设有不同年期及不同金额的入学奖学金。请查阅各课程的网页


    附注: 入学奖学金的细则将於录取通知书中说明。获入学奖学金学生跟所有获得录取的学生一样,须先缴付港币15,000元以确认接纳本校的录取,所缴款项将於入学後发还。理大有权更改上述奖学金条款或取消奖学金。如有任何争议/分歧,理大保留最终决定权。
