Project Description

The ICT courses under the project of “ICT Lifelong Learning for the Third Age at PolyU” are developed, planned, taught, and learned by third age members. Different from other organizations, our tutors are third age members. They must attend a “train-the-trainer” course before they facilitate a course. The Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies (RCGFS) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) conducts 10 courses in three categories advised by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), including but not limited to e-government, “smart” healthcare, “smart” living, and ICT appreciation. Each ICT course is comprised of five lessons over two weeks. Tutors and participants are allowed to use PolyU’s space and facilities on campus, like wireless Internet services, for teaching and learning purposes. Meanwhile, 8 iPads are purchased, together with iPads provided by RCGFS for teaching use.
