Dr Catherine Cheung, Dr Jinsoo Lee and Dr Ada Lo attended the 2012 TOSOK International Tourism Conference in Ulsan, Korea on 4-6 July 2012. Dr Lee presented a paper entitled "Exploring Convention Attendee Perception from the Perspective of Self-Congruity". Dr Lo presented papers entitled "A Study on the Impact of the Customers' Perception of Hotel Loyalty Programs on their Relationship Quality with Hotel Brands" and "Communicating Corporate Social Responsibility Identity on Hotel Websites: Preliminary Findings on the Identification of CSR Communication Expressiveness Quotients".



Professer Cathy Hsu, Professor Bob McKercher, Dr Kam Hung and Dr Mimi Li attended the 4th ITSA Biennial Conference in Bali, Indonesia on 23-25 August 2012. Professor Hsu presented a paper entitled "Brand Positions in the Minds of Chinese Domestic Travelers". Professor McKercher was invited as a keynote speaker on the topic "Myths and Realities of the Cultural Tourism Market". Dr Hung presented a paper entitled "Understanding the Mindset of Travelers in Developing Buddhism Themed Hotels". Dr Li presented a paper entitled "A Review of Research on China's Urban Tourism" and participated in panel discussion on "China Outbound Tourism".



Dr Markus Schuckert and Dr Honggen Xiao attended the 62nd AIEST Conference in Khon Kaen, Thailand on 26-30 August 2012. Dr Schuckert chaired a parallel session on the topic "Products and Services" and presented a paper entitled "Nationality Bias? The Analysis of Passengers' Preferences for In-Flight Catering". Dr Xiao presented a paper entitled "Science Communication across Languages: A China Tourism Research Perspective".



Dr Mimi Li and Dr Alan Wong attended the China Symposium 2012 in Stockholm, Sweden on 29-31 August 2012. Dr Li presented a paper entitled "Branding Mega-Cities: Experiences from Two Metropolises in China". Dr Wong presented a paper entitled "Challenges and Opportunities of Hangzhou's MICE Industry in the Global Market: A Human Resources Perspective".



Dr Alan Wong presented a paper entitled "Meeting the Needs of Local Communities Through Ecotourism: The Case of Volunteer Participation in an Ethnic Minority Community in Lijiang, Province of Yunan, China" at the 4th World Ecotourism Conference in Gyeonggi, Korea on 2-5 September 2012.



Professor Kaye Chon attended the Global Tourism Economy Forum in Macau on 9-11 September 2012.

Professor Chon attended the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Executive Board and PATA Board Meeting in Manila, the Philippines on 28-30 September 2012.

Professor Chon was one of the panellists in the keynote session "Deans Panel" at the Cornell Hospitality Research Summit in Ithaca, New York, USA on 8-9 October 2012.

Professor Chon attended the 3rd meeting of the Aga Khan University Graduate School of Leisure and Tourism Thinking Group in Hong Kong on 16-17 October 2012. Participants included Prince Armyn Aga Khan; Professor John Tribe, Editor-in-Chief of Annals of Toursim Research; Professor Marion Joppe of University of Guelph; Professor Karl Wober of Modul University; Professor Elizabeth Roberts of Bond University; Mr Ruud Reuland of Reuland Hospitality Coaching and President Firoz Rasul of Aga Khan University.



Professor Cathy Hsu attended the ISTTE 2012 Annual Conference in Freiburg, Germany on 16-18 October 2012 as the Honorary Chairman of the Board and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Teaching in Travel and Tourism.

Dr Basak Denizci and Dr Karen Weber attended the 30th EuroCHRIE Annual Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland on 25-27 October 2012. Dr Denizci presented a paper entitled "Does Customer Loyalty Translate into Long Term Profitability within the Hotel Industry? Investigating the Impact of Net Promoters on Firm Performance". Dr Weber presented a paper entitled "Assessing Effects of Acculturation on Service Failure Responses: Insights from Australian-Chinese Consumers".
