Professor Haiyan Song presented a paper entitled "e-Tourism Marketing – the Case of Hong Kong" at the Tourism Industry Management Conference organised by the Faculty of Economics, Yamaguchi University in Japan on 27-28 March 2012.

Professor Rob Law visited Shandong University in Weihai, China on 16-18 April 2012, where he gave a presentation on "Evaluating Research Performance in Tourism and Hospitality".

Professor Kaye Chon attended the PATA Executive Board and PATA Board Meeting: April 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 19-20 April 2012.

Dr Honggen Xiao and Ms Grace Song attended the China Tourism Academy Summit 2012 in Beijing, China on 21-22 April 2012.

Professor Kaye Chon delivered a seminar entitled "Preparing Yourself for Leadership in Hospitality Industry" to 43 members of the senior management of InterContinental Shenzhen on 23 April 2012.

Dr John Ap was invited as a keynote speaker on the topic "Challenges & Strategies in Developing the Inbound Tourism Market: "Asia's World City" & "Uniquely Singapore" Experiences" at the Japan Inbound Tourism Workshop in Tokyo, Japan on 23 April 2012.

Dr Basak Denizci presented a paper entitled "Moderating Effect on Information, Familiarity and Reference Price on Hotel Pricing Policies: The Case of Chinese Customers" at the 6th World Conference for Graduate Research in Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure in Fethiye, Turkey on 24-29 April 2012.

Professor Haiyan Song was an invited speaker on the topic "Trends and Predictions in Chinese Outbound Travel" at the 2012 Australian Tourism Export Council Symposium on the Sunshine Coast, Australia on 2-4 May 2012.

Professor Kaye Chon delivered an invited keynote speech on "A Theoretical Framework of Green Tourism in Asia and the Pacific" at the UNWTO High-Level Regional Conference on Green Tourism in Chiang Mai, Thailand on 3-5 May 2012.

Dr Hanqin Zhang presented papers entitled "Analysis of Urban Tourist Motivation: The Case of Shanghai" and "Marketisation vs. Regulatory Regimes: Policy Issues and Polemics in Hong Kong's Self-Financed Tertiary Education Sector" at the 3rd Asian Conference on the Social Sciences in Osaka, Japan on 3-6 May 2012.

Professor Kaye Chon attended the 15th Anniversary of Zhejiang University – PolyU Collaboration cum Alumni and Students Reunion Dinner in Hangzhou, China on 5 May 2012.

A number of SHTM staff members, including Professor Kaye Chon, Professor Haiyan Song, Dr John Ap, Dr Qu Xiao and Ms Grace Song, attended the Asia Tourism Forum 2012: The 10th Biennial Conference on the Hospitality and Tourism Industry in Asia in Bandung, Indonesia on 8-10 May 2012. Professor Song was invited to present a keynote address on "Tourism Marketing in the Digital Era – Trends and Prospects". Dr Ap presented a paper entitled "Issues in Developing Indicators & Measures of Cultural Capital in a Heritage Tourism Context".

Dr Qi Wu attended the 8th International Conference on Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Nanjing, China on 23-26 May 2012.
