SHTM Offers Ph.D. Scholarship and Executive-in-Residence Programme to Officials of UNWTO Member States

An Affiliate Member of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), the SHTM recently announced two programmes aimed at human resource capacity building for tourism in Asia and the Pacific.

The School has established a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) scholarship to encourage exceptional individuals who wish to pursue a research degree in hotel and tourism management. Commencing in the academic year 2012/2013, the scholarship will be offered to a qualified applicant recommended by UNWTO Member States in Asia and the Pacific. The scholarship will support one full-time student who will be on full stipend (USD64,000) for a study period of three years.

In support of the UNWTO's efforts in human resource capacity building and extending the frontier of knowledge in the field of tourism, the SHTM also offers a pioneering UNWTO Executive-in-Residence Programme to officials of UNWTO Member States in Asia and the Pacific. This innovative programme allows qualified candidates to spend six months at the School to upgrade and broaden their knowledge. Participants will have full access to classes and the SHTM's resources, and will benefit from the School's unique approach to hospitality and tourism education and research.
