Course objectives:
This course aims at introducing chemical safety management for laboratory supervisors and equipping chemical users with better knowledge on chemical safety practices so that they can manage hazardous chemicals in good order and work safely in the laboratory respectively.  

 

Target group(s):
All chemical laboratory supervisors and registered chemical users who work with chemicals frequently.

Briefing for Purchasing Delegates on the Central Chemical Purchasing System – Class A7

1.           Background of Dangerous Goods Management Team (DGMT)

Course Objectives:

This course aims at introducing the Central Chemical Purchasing System effective since 01 October 2016 for chemical users so that they can purchase hazardous chemicals under a close monitoring of DGMT. Chemical Purchasing Delegates are required to complete this course with satisfactory results in order to complete the registration and obtain eligibility for raising chemical purchase request to DGMT.

 

Target Group(s):
All PolyU staff members who are required to purchase chemicals.

Competence in Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Workstation Assessment

1.         Legislation and PolyU’s code of practice on DSE

2.         Basic anatomy and physiology

3.         Common health problems amongst DSE users

4.         Prevention of musculoskeletal related problems

5.         Principles of ergonomics

6.         Different types of DSE equipment and their features

7.         Risk assessment of DSE workstations

8.         Stretching Exercises

9.         Videos on stretching exercise and set up of workstations

10.      Practical session on risk assessment

 

Course Objectives:
This course aims at introducing the legal requirement on the safe use of display screen equipment (DSE), basic knowledge on musculoskeletal problems associated with DSE users, use of DSE workstation in an ergonomically manner, and practical methods in carrying out DSE workstation assessment. Personnel who have completed this course are competent in performing risk assessment on DSE workstations.

 

Target Group(s):
All PolyU staff members who are interested in risk assessment associated with the use of display screen equipment and are delegated by their corresponding departments.
