Assessing Risk of Your Workplace

1.     Principles of risk management and risk            assessment
2.     The 5 steps approach of risk assessment
3.     Using the HSE Form 14 for assessing risk
Course objectives:
Risk assessment is one of the useful tools of risk management and applicable to the safety management of a workplace. This lecture will teach you a simple but yet practical step-by-step risk assessment method using a tailor-made form.

Target group(s):
Supervisors responsible for the safety management of offices, laboratories and workshops.

Laboratory Safety Reinforcement Training for Research Personnel

  1. Laboratory safety management; chemical and biological safety (Mr Danny Fok)
  2. Laser and ionizing radiation safety                      (Mr Chris Leung)
  3. Fire and other hazards in the laboratory                (Mr Ivan Chan)
Course objectives:
This course is the second tier training on laboratory safety for research personnel who has completed the on-line training and registered as laboratory users via the “Web-based Self-learning and Registration System on Laboratory Safety”. Since participants already have basic concepts of laboratory safety, this course aims at providing information on specific areas of laboratory safety with more examples and accident cases for their learning. They are also encouraged to raise questions on health and safety conditions of their respective laboratories for discussion.     

Target group(s):
Research personnel who have registered as laboratory users via the “Web-based Self-learning and Registration System on Laboratory Safety” on HSEO’s homepage should attend this course within a period of three months after registration.
