Campus Sustainability Committee

Background

As announced by the Senior Management in November 2011, the Campus Sustainability Committee (CSC) was formed to engage in promoting sustainability in planning, development and operation of the campus environment and facilities. Other sustainability initiatives in education, research and community service activities will also be developed by the committee. Comprising senior members of PolyU, including the Vice Presidents, Faculty Deans and Heads of Departments, the committee directly reports to the President, Prof. Timothy Tong on campus sustainability issues.

 

Terms of Reference

  1. To promote sustainability in planning, development and operation of the campus environment and facilities as well as in the development of sustainability initiatives in education, research and community service activities.
  2. To develop a strategic plan every 5-10 years for the above initiatives and coordinate the tasks that being/will be performed by the relevant committees/task owners for its implementation.
  3. To apply and showcase PolyU’s research and technology on campus.
  4. To advise the President on environmental policy as well as oversee the implementation of it and the promotion of a culture for environmental protection.
  5. To review half-year progress reports from the relevant committees/task owners and provide advice on issues of common concerns.
  6. To provide an annual progress report of the Strategic Plan to the President.
