Date : 31 August 2010 Subject : Provision of PC in all Teaching Rooms Further to putting Thin Client Computer for trial in some of the teaching rooms for two years, we are pleased to advise that a standard PC has now been provided, jointly arranged by ITS and FMO, in every teaching room so as to further enhance effective teaching. For information about the configuration and software installed in the computer, please refer to the appendix A. As part of the University data network security controls, you are now required to log on with your own NetID and NetPassword as per instructions given in appendix B if you need to access internet (visitors should get temporary ID and password from the host department if necessary). For security reasons, you are reminded to log off by shutting down or restarting the PC after use. All working files saved in the hard disk will be erased whenever the PC has been shut down or restarted. While you are enjoying this new facility, we would like to take this opportunity to seek your assistance in switching off the computer, LCD monitor, lighting, air conditioning and other AV facilities for the sake of energy saving before you leave the teaching rooms. For General Teaching rooms without a fixed lectern, please unplug and put the video cables, power cables, LAN cables back into the tray next to the PC after use. Please contact our AV supporting unit on ext. 6302 should you need any assistance in operating the computer and other AV facilities.
