About us

LC3C9627_eThe Business Automation Laboratory provides an open and integrated environment to support teaching, learning, research and technology transfer in relation to e-commerce, data warehousing and data mining, online analytical processing, enterprise engineering portal, system and data integration as well as workflow management. The Laboratory is equipped with 30 desk-top computers and software packages provided by Microsoft as well as other software companies. With the support of the facilities, a number of student and research projects have been conducted in the Laboratory with the collaboration of various enterprises such as Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Ltd, Gara Plastics Ltd, Group Sense (Intl.) Ltd, etc.

 

Services

The Business Automation Laboratory is designed to cover the whole range of product lifecycle from conceptual idea to logistics distribution with focus on the implementation at the enterprise system level which requires the knowledge of relevant hardware and software ranging from sensors or smart cards for data acquisition, understanding of functions of microprocessors as well as configuration of client/server system networking to collaborate product commerce.

In brief, Business Automation Laboratory will be used to:

  • strengthen and support student-centred and group based learning in line with the curriculum review in the coming years
  • conduct research activities related to enterprise systems integration, collaborative product commerce and enterprise modelling
  • disseminate the knowledge to SMEs through student projects, workshop, seminars, consultancy and Teaching Company Schemes
  • act as a technology show case for SMEs in the region in teaching, research and technology transfer in enterprise-wide integration of processes
