The Culture Promotion Committee of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was established in 1999, with the aims of enriching the cultural ambience of PolyU campus and arousing the cultural awareness of members of the university community. The Committee has, over the years, presented a variety of quality art and cultural events and programmes for students and staff of PolyU. These events and programmes have provided opportunities for students and staff to get together outside class to pursue their interests in art and culture, contributing to the University’s strategic objective of providing all-round education for students.
The Committee has gained a reputation in taking a leading role in the promotion of art and culture among tertiary institutions through its signature events and programmes such as the Artist-in-Residence programmes and theme festivals. Having worked closely with cultural and arts organizations, performing groups, consulate offices, eminent artists and overseas universities, the Committee has organized events and programmes in various art categories encompassing music, dance, theatre, visual art, film, and literary art, and presented them in the form of talks, demonstrations, workshops, carnivals, exhibitions, and tours, to name only a few.
