Profile May 2001

Cover story: A university is only as great as the people it sends out into the world. Hong Kong owes a great debt to the graduates of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University from the 1960s, 70s and 80s. It is most fitting that the Institution organised the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award 2001 to honour the remarkable achievements of its alumni.

Since its inception in 1997, this biennial event has paid tribute to a total of 18 outstanding alumni. The winners of this year are from different fields, including electrical engineering, management, textile, graphic design, surveying, production engineering and electronic engineering. The knowledge and the contributions of the awardees have helped put Hong Kong on the map of world-class cities.
