Professor Gang LI is Chair Professor of Energy Conversion Technology and holds the Sir Sze-yuen Chung Endowed Professorship in Renewable Energy at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a distinguished scholar in the field of Solar Photovoltaic energy, making his mark as one of the world’s foremost researchers in the field of printable solar cells, encompassing both organic polymer solar cells and perovskite solar cells.

I am a pioneer and veteran in the OSC field, and my research has had a profound impact on the field and has inspired generations of young talents worldwide. I hope to continue contributing new knowledge to the OSC and perovskite solar cell community.

LI Gang__text_picWith an impressive portfolio of over 220 published papers, Professor Li has garnered an extraordinary 76,000 citations and a H-index of 88 according to Google Scholar. Since 2005, he has conducted many groundbreaking research projects, partially indicated by his 20 papers which have over 1,000 citations each, with his most highly cited paper reaching 6,700 citations. His pioneering research has deeply influenced researchers globally in the organic solar cell field.

Adding to his accomplishments, Professor Li has the prestigious honour of being recognised as a Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher since 2014, across the categories of Materials Science, Physics and Chemistry. Professor Li has received numerous accolades for his outstanding academic achievements, including being elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), Optica Fellow, SPIE Fellow and Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) Senior Research Fellow.

Beyond his exceptional academic career, Professor Li has research and development leadership experience in a start-up company setting, and is passionate about translating research into real-world applications in order to make a meaningful impact on society.
