The Role of Mathematics in STEM Education 數理縱橫STEM式教育工作坊 |
Description / Introduction: |
This workshop had two distinct scopes. The first one was to introduce different stages of cognitive development and suggested the relevant STEM activities. Students develop different cognitive skills from algebra operation to logical thinking in different stages of development. This suggested that teachers should design STEM activities appropriate to student’s cognitive styles. The second part was to discuss what M (Mathematics) could play in the role of STEM. The training of mathematics logic and mathematical models are necessary for STEM activities and can enhance the design of research activities. Mathematics flexibility was also discussed as we are in a dynamic STEM environment. |
